I had five skin tags and I was sick of them so i cut them all off. they bleed a lot, but thats it. Now I'm reading that you shouldnt cut them yourself. Is it bad what I did? Should I go to a doctor?
Should I have not cut my skin tags?
No, you should not have done it yourself. However, now you need to be very careful about infection. Please keep the areas clean and apply neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment/cream to them at least 3 times a day. If you see any signs of infection:
redness
swelling
pus
pain
red streaks
get to a doctor immediately.
Reply:My doc told me to cut mine myself... but I've been too chicken.
Reply:from what I understand the best way to get rid of skin tags is to tie string around it and make sure its tight and in a couple of days it will fall off. I have never heard of not being able to remove them yourself
Reply:what is a skin tag??
but if its something on ur skin
like i had a mole on my neck
and all they did was give it a shot and then cut it off
didnt feel it
didnt bleed
but im thinkin u made a uh oh
go to a docter or call one asap
Reply:usually cutting them off doesn't achieve much, other than regrowing more in their place. some people suggesting taking a piece of thin, but strong thread and tying it tightly around the skin tag. Leave it for a couple of days and they will fall off...Less painful and messy than cutting them off....

How can I get rid of skin tags, will wart remover work?
I have 3 small skin tags at the bottom of my back, they are starting to rub on my clothes, any way I can get rid of them without surgery? I thought I may be able to freeze them off with wart remover??
How can I get rid of skin tags, will wart remover work?
Hi,
A skin tag is a common, benign condition which consists of a bit of skin that projects from the surrounding skin and may appear attached to the skin. Skin tags can vary quite a bit in appearance. They may be smooth or irregular, flesh colored or more deeply pigmented, and either simply be raised above the surrounding skin or have a stalk (a peduncle) so that the skin tag hangs from the skin.
n cases in which a skin tag is irritated or cosmetically unwanted, treatment may be done by freezing the tag with liquid nitrogen, tying off the tag with a thread or suture so as to cut off the blood supply, or cutting off (excising) the tag with a scalpel or scissors.
Please never, never try to remove them youself. Wart remover is the last thing you should do. Visit your doctor who will decide if they can be safely tied off or frozen off.
Reply:You can have them removed as a minor operation which is a bit of a misnomer as you don't need surgery as such. You can be in and out of the hospital or doctor's surgery within about 1 hour. I would not recommend hacking or burning them off yourself.
Reply:Your doctor will freeze them off for you with dry ice. It only took a few minutes to remove a wart from my finger. They use the same treatments for skin tags.
Reply:I HAD ONE ON MY EYELID, THE DOCTOR REMOVED FOR ME BY BURNING IT OFF, IT WAS SAFE.
MY DAUGHTER WHO IS A BEAUTY THERAPIST, SAID YOU CAN WRAP COTTON THREAD AROUND THEM, PULL IT TIGHT AND LEAVE IT, THEY WILL THEN DROP OFF, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT.
Reply:yuck!!
Reply:i've never heard of wart remover getting rid of skin tags. my mother had a couple and the doctor burned them off and they never came back.
Reply:Yes, if you can have a friend or partner tie a piece of thread to the base of each one, that will cut off the blood supply and they will drop off in a few days. I have removed a few skin tags this way and it works fine.
Reply:go to doc's to get them removed or cosmetic surgery place. or u can tie some cotton round them leave it until they drop off. it stops the blood from flowing and will drop off but not sure how long it takes.

How can I get rid of skin tags?
I'm 46 and in the last few years I have gotten more and more skin tags around my neck, in my armpits, and on my abdomen. They are unsightly but not otherwise a problem. What are some easy ways to get rid of them?
How can I get rid of skin tags?
I agree with people who have suggested seeing a doctor to have them frozen off.
I had two under my armpits which I shaved off with a razor, it burned a little but not much and they haven't come back. The ones on your armpit you could probably do on your own. However, I had one of the back of my neck that I also cut off with scissors and it hurt terribly. I do NOT recommend cutting off the ones on you abs and neck on your own unless you have a very high pain tolerance. You also might cause yourself scars. (I didn't care about scars when I did mine because it's in an area my hair covers.)
Reply:Go to the Doctor and have them frozen off
Reply:U can have them removed by a dr, but here is some more info for u.

Reply:Skin tags can be snipped off by a Dr. ,frozen off with liquid nitrogen, or even lasered.
Reply:Depending on how big they are (and I've seen them get huge) if you have like 1 or 2 under your armpits, this is what I do: just get some nail clippers and snip them off = put on some deodorant (yes it will burn) and kills it off...
But around your neck %26amp; abdomen, go to a doctor and either have them frozen off or cut off - I always see people who have those and wonder why they don't get em taken care of..
My Dermatologist has always told me, if you weren't born with it - get rid of it.. You never know what it could turn into..
Reply:yep - go to a dermatologist - but i don't think insurance covers it
Reply:there s a vitamin complex that should solve this problem. email me for details.

Why am I getting so many skin tags?
Okay, I turned 38 in April and I have noticed in the past year skin tags popping up. I hate them! They are irritating and ugly...why and what can I do to get rid of them?
Why am I getting so many skin tags?
You can have them burned off at a doctor's office. I'm only 20, and I've been getting them for years. I just roll them around, and after awhile they come off. I'm not sure I would recommend this though, I don't know how safe it is.
Reply:I get them too, though I have my dermatologist burn them off...it doesn't hurt and it only take moments to do a bunch of them. He told me that primarily they are genetic. Did either of your parents have them or moles?
Good luck!
Reply:yeah i get what you mean. Im gonna be 39 tomorrow, and im noticing the same thing. i hope someone has suggestions for ridding ourselvs of them. they really are annoying. boy does it suck to get older.
Reply:I also have several skin tags, they are painful if they rub on my collar or something. I alos have them under my armpits and breasts. Both of my parents have them. My aunt ties string around hers, cutting the circulation off and while tied, she cuts them off with sharp scizzors. It works for her. I am too fearful. I have gone to the doctor in the past, but they grow so quickly, I got tired of taking the time to go.

Why was my newborn born with skin tags?
My baby was born with multiple skin tags right in front of both of her ears. I am really concerned this is going to cause hearing problems, as she failed the hearing test in the hospital the first time. What causes these?
Why was my newborn born with skin tags?
My son was born with skin tags on his torso. A dermatologist can take them off your baby very easily. I would go to a dermatologist, not a regular pediatrician, as dermatologists have far more experience with skin tag removal. I've had them removed and it wasn't bad at all, really.
Failing a hearing test right after birth isn't anything to get upset about. The second test will probably be done by an audiologist, which is who you want to do the test. Most test that are done right after birth are not done by audiologists.
Best of luck to you all. Take care.
